WAIT UPON THE LORD AND BE STRONGER

When David’s life is in real danger from enemies that threatened his life, and when everything aren’t going very well for him, He reminds himself to WAIT ON THE LORD.Life in this world can be formidable. Personal conflict within ourselves, and dangerous adversaries, tragedies and sickness without. Our journey here is never normal. Even for someone who truly believes in God. But oftentimes, when we panic in fear, we usually press for an immediate solution. We passionately yearn for our circumstances to turn around for the better. And we want it NOW.

However, the Master sometimes chooses a path that isn’t appealing for us. The path of WAITING. He wants us to STOP from striving, LOOK unto Him and LISTEN to His Words. We don’t like waiting for two reasons. First, it forces us to cease from personal advancements and it suspends our self-efforts. Secondly, it takes time, and we are typically impatient. But in reality, for a believer, there is actually something happening while it seems that nothing is happening. God is using waiting to change us. David says: “TEACH ME YOUR WAY, O Lord, and LEAD ME ON A LEVEL PATH BECAUSE OF MY ENEMIES.” (Psalm 27:11).

Waiting is a beautiful time of LEARNING. And GROWING. And CHANGING. From within. It is God’s occasion to humble us, give us an eternal perspective and make us stronger than before. That means a crucial part of the Christian life is learning the humble discipline of trustfully casting our souls on God who promised to be faithful to us. Especially in times of trouble. We need to be trained the effectual and rewarding spiritual skill of WAITING upon the Lord. That miserable, uncomfortable, painful silence is one of God’s most powerful tools to set us higher. It allows God to work in our soul as we pause during these days. God makes this PROMISE after a time of waiting: “For HE WILL HIDE ME IN HIS SHELTER IN THE DAY OF TROUBLE; HE WILL CONCEAL ME UNDER THE COVER OF HIS TENT; HE WILL LIFT ME HIGH UPON A ROCK.” (Psalm 27:5).

He lifts us up afterwards. More importantly, waiting is a special time to KNOW HIM DEEPLY. “BE STILL and KNOW THAT I AM GOD. I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46:10).

Brethren, this Holy Week during the quarantine period is a marvelous time to WAIT UPON THE LORD. As I said before, this is more than a coronavirus. This is not just about God dealing with an ungodly world. This is also about His people. He wants to deal with us. Personally, and individually. In the days of our solitude, isolation and trouble.

“Though an army encamp against me, MY HEART SHALL NOT FEAR; though war arise against me, yet I will be CONFIDENT. One thing have I asked of the Lord, THAT WILL I SEEK AFTER: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, TO GAZE UPON THE BEAUTY OF THE LORD AND TO INQUIRE IN HIS TEMPLE.” (Psalm 27:3-4). “I shall LOOK UPON THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD in the land of the living.” (v.13)

May this Holy Week during the quarantine period makes us STRONGER and more COURAGEOUS in the Lord as we seek His face in this period of waiting.
